Clean Habits Slideshow

The best way to keep a good habit going is to set yourself up for success.

Having the right things in place along with set reminders until the habit becomes second nature will keep a habit going for a long time.

Clean Habits are daily -sometimes weekly - practices intended to keep areas you come into contact with frequently germ free so that you and your family can stay healthy.

These habits are beneficial year round but especially during cold and flu season.

You may have seen each of the Clean Habits featured in social media feeds but how can you make these work in real life?

Try these proven methods:

Common Touch Areas

There are common touch or frequently touched areas no matter where you spend most of your time: in the home, office, and car. View the slideshow above to see what these areas are for each space.

For your circumstances decide a good location to keep microfiber cloths handy so that all you will have to do is grab one and quickly wipe these areas.

Now that you have them in place - decide which time of day and with what activity will it be best for you to wipe these areas.

For example if considering common touch areas in your home it may be best to wipe these areas right before you relax for the evening or go to bed.

Set a reminder on your phone or device for this time. Set it to repeat daily.

These common touch areas should not be extremely soiled.

Because of this you may be able to get away with having two or three microfiber cloths for the week.

When you have used one rinse in hot water and allow to dry. At the end of the week gather all cleaning cloths and launder.

If you prefer to use a different microfiber cloth everyday but want to cut costs consider cutting a full size cloth into pieces - using one each day.

Common Touch Workspaces

Keep a microfiber cloth in your desk or work area.

At the end of your shift take a moment to wipe the common touch areas -especially those touched by all who come by your space.

Rinse your cloth in hot water and allow to dry for the next day.

If you prefer to use a new cloth everyday consider the suggestion above and cut a full size microfiber cloth into smaller pieces.

You could put them in a gallon plastic storage bag and keep at your work station.

Have an additional storage bag for used cloths. Take them home to launder on laundry day.

Common Touch & Declutter Your Car

Keep 1 microfiber cloth and at least 2 disposable or reusable grocery bags in a car compartment or in the trunk.

At least once per week go through all of the compartments, seats, and floors. Discard any trash in one bag.

Use the other bag to transfer items left behind to their proper place either at home or in the office.

Take your microfiber cloth and go over common touch surfaces in the car.

Don't forget to set a reminder.

Sanitize Kitchen Counters

Once per day (most find at the end of the day the best time) spray counters with a plant based cleaner.

Allow to sit for a few minutes.

Wipe with a microfiber cloth

Squeegee Shower

Keep a shower squeegee in the shower area. Lightly go over tiles right after you turn the water off.

This habit will reduce mild mildew build up as well as soap scum.

Take Shoes Off

Keep a shoe rack by the entry . If there is space also have a small bench or seat for those who need it - just be careful to not start using it for anything other than sitting down to take your shoes off.

This habit will save your flooring. Preventing dirt, debris, and oils from becoming embedded in carpet or wearing down hard flooring surfaces will keep your home clean and increase wellness.
