Throughout the many years of professional cleaning the owners of Clean LLC - Seth and Debbi - have encountered all types of cleaning products. They have seen how these products work and their effects on personal well being. When making product choices this experience has led them to always ask:

How does it work?

What is it made of?

Why these two questions? The answers will always help in making a good product choice. Of course a little more knowledge is needed to make an appropriate product choice. You'll need to know soiling type, surface type and the degree to which it needs to be cleaned.

Why is it important to ask "How does it work?"

When choosing a pre-formulated product it is important to find out how it will do the job it's claimed to do.

Example:

Mold / Mildew remover - Pre-formulated

How will this product get rid of mold and/or mildew?

Does this product have such a high pH that it will damage surfaces?

Will using it make surfaces more porous which can lead to increased soiling in the future?

Does it give off caustic fumes?

Why it is important to ask "What is it made of"?

Some products on the market contain ingredients that harm the environment and can be toxic to humans and pets.

Example:

Mold / Mildew remover - Pre-formulated

Are the ingredients found in nature?

Do any ingredients harm your health in anyway?

When we come to the conclusion that a pre-formulated product is not a good choice, asking those two questions also helps in choosing a safer alternative.

An example:

Mold / Mildew remover - Alternative

How does it work?

Requirements:

It dismantles and breaks down the mold/mildew.

The product is suited for the level of cleaning needed.

What is it made of?

Requirements:

It comes directly from nature or is a substance made by products in nature.

It is not harmful to surfaces, the environment, humans, or pets.

Product choice can determine non-toxic cleaning. When choosing a product as yourself ask: How does it work; What is it made of?
